Life before Teesside High School
I lived for my first 18 years on Merseyside, before my love of travel and fear of flying took me all around the UK teaching English, followed by 16 years as head of English in four different schools.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I absolutely love teaching! Working with young people is by far the best thing about the job; those moments where a little bit of progress is made or when a young person realises they ‘get it’ are always worth waiting for. And, there’s always a place for humour in working with young people – they make me laugh a lot!
What do you enjoy most about Teesside High School?
I am very new to Teesside High School, so I’m looking forward to getting to know my classes, my tutor group, as well as meeting the rest of the young people here in school.
What is your favourite time of the year?
There’s something to like in all seasons, I reckon. Being pushed, I think I’d say the autumn: the sense of optimism as a new school year begins, the beginnings of longer evenings, the anticipation for Christmas, the changing colours.
What do others say about you?
That’s a tough question! I hope they would notice my passion for what I do, my dedication to get the best out of people and my willingness to find humour in things.
