Year 7 Open Evening

Virtual resources for prospective parents

Welcome to our Year 7 Open Evening resource page

For parents who were unable to attend our Year 7 Open Evening, we are delighted to provide access to a number of virtual resources which will allow you to find out more about our Senior School.

We are a small school which punches above its weight; our examination results rival some of the most academically selective schools in the entire North East region.

We are one of the region’s leading independent schools (The Sunday Times, 2019) and the best school in Stockton-on-Tees for attainment at GCSE (DfE School performance league tables, 2017). We are proud to add significant value to each and every students’ education.

We are delighted to also be recognised as the 13th best small independent school sixth form in the UK by The Telegraph (2018).

Find out more about our academic results

We firmly believe that there is more to our student experience than their academic profile and achievements.

Our extensive co-curricular programme means that there is always something on offer to suit all tastes. We have a designated timetable slot for co-curricular opportunities, providing time for our students to engage with specialist staff and coaches to develop their interests and skills. Examples include Drama Club, Nature Club, Forest School, Bootcamp Fitness, Laser Run Pistol Shooting, Astronomy for Beginners and much more.

If you enjoy sport, our clubs range from the traditional practices such as hockey, netball, gymnastics, cricket and rugby to girls’ football, trampolining, table tennis and golf. If you have more of an artistic nature, perhaps our music ensembles have something to offer; Orchestra, Swing Band, Choir, or even Rock Band, or you may enjoy our European Film Club. We also offer additional language tuition through clubs in Japanese, Italian, Spanish and Ancient Greek.

When the going gets tough, the tough start growing.

At Teesside High School, we believe the opportunity to engage in adventurous activity in the outdoors is fundamental to developing our young people in every way imaginable.

We believe in growing global citizens who are aware of the need for sustainability in the use of our natural resources. Spending time in stunning landscapes both in this country and further afield enriches this awareness, broadening horizons and influencing our young people way beyond the years they spend with us.

Next steps

I have enjoyed school lots so far. My favourite lesson has been Biology because the teacher is very nice and the lesson itself is very fun. I also like French, Physics, Chemistry and DT. I’ve adjusted to the school very well and have met lots of new friends. One of my favourite things about the school is the teachers because they are all so kind.
