Teesside High School student secures Cambridge place
Thursday 16 August 2018 | By Samantha HockneyA Year 13 student at Teesside High School Sixth Form has secured her place to read Music at the University of Cambridge after achieving A*AA grades at A-level.
Samantha Pinches, 18, from North Yorkshire, will study at the university’s Fitzwilliam College from September.
Samantha is an outstanding musician; she has achieved Grade 8 Piano, Grade 8 Flute and Grade 7 Classical Voice, and regularly contributes to the School’s musical concerts, drama productions and co-curricular programme, including School orchestra and Upper School Choir. Samantha is a choral soloist at Durham Cathedral and has performed in venues such as Birmingham’s Symphony Hall with the North East Regional Choir.
Kirsty Mackenzie, Head at Teesside High School, said: “Sam has been an excellent ambassador for Teesside High School for many years and so many of our staff will be filled with immense pride today as she rightfully secures her place at Cambridge.
“Our track record of Oxbridge success continues and we could not be more pleased.”
