Head’s blog – Summer

Friday 21 June 2024 | By Megan Connor

Our summer term events are in full swing as we approach the end of the academic year.

Last week gave us the chance to see our future year group cohorts come together as our summer term Transition Days took place.  Prep School pupils got the chance to experience a day in their new year groups ahead of September and had a great time making new friends and spending time with their new teachers.  I think it is safe to say they enjoyed seeing what the year ahead will bring in Prep!

We also welcomed all of the new pupils who will be joining us in September from schools in the local community.  From Nursery to Year 7, we were thrilled to see so many new faces enjoying their first taste of life at Teesside High School.  A huge thank you to all of our current students who assisted as mentors on the day.

Thank you to all who joined us for our Summer Fair last Saturday.  Despite the weather, it turned out to be a wonderful day with a great sense of school spirit and family.  We cannot wait to host this event once again,  hopefully with some sunshine next time!

On Monday, parents and grandparents joined our Prep School for an exciting Early Years Father’s Day assembly. The children sang their songs fantastically and told us all about why they loved their dads and grandads.  Tears were shed as the children shared all of the small things their dads do which they love so much.

It has been a very busy day so far for Pastoral Day.  Senior School students have taken part in a range of activities including team building, staying safe online and talks with organisations such as Cleveland Fire Brigade, the Army Outreach Team, Harbour and Brook Advisory.  This day is a great addition to our fantastic pastoral provision at THS and I hope students have enjoyed this aspect of their personal development.  Huge thanks to the agencies and partner organisations who help us deliver such a comprehensive programme.

I am looking forward to watching the Staff vs Parents Cricket Match this afternoon.  I know that the staff team have had some practice today so the big question is, who will come away victorious this year?
