Head’s blog – Friday 25 November
Monday 28 November 2022 | By System AdminOn Tuesday 15 November, our creative students received an interesting workshop and Tea-Time Talk from published illustrator, Liz Million. Liz spoke about how she became an illustrator, what it was like to study Art at university in London and guided our students with their drawings during the session. Thank you for such a great insight into the creative industry!
Last Thursday saw our Upper Prep pupils travelling to The Northwood Trail near York. Despite the rain, they had an excellent day, examining all of the different sustainable landmarks and finishing the day with a treasure trail. Our Year 8 students travelled back in time to experience life in Industrial Britain at the Workhouse Museum, Ripon. Thank you to our staff who organise these trips, giving our students a broader experience of the school curriculum.
As you can see from our front cover, we once again supported Children in Need last Friday. It makes me very proud every year to see how all of our staff and students come together to raise money for this incredible cause.
Tuesday saw our Senior students rehearsing for the upcoming performance of Jason and the Argonauts on Tuesday 29 November at 5.00pm. Tickets for this event can be purchased through the link on our Facebook page.
Today we held our annual Senior School Speech Day with guest speaker, Colin Maclachlan. On a day when we recognise and celebrate academic, sporting and musical successes, it was fantastic to be joined by so many parents and guests including governors and former members of staff. It was also wonderful to welcome back former students now enjoying the next stages of their education or career. We saw prizes and trophies awarded alongside GCSE and A-level certificates following years of hard work and dedication to studies.
I am now looking forward to all of the festive celebrations we have coming up. Our Christmas Market is tomorrow, followed by our Festive Family Forest School, our Winter Music Concert, well deserved end of term celebrations and much, much more!
