A-level Results Day 2023 – Teesside High School
Thursday 17 August 2023 | By Samantha HockneyTeesside High School students have secured a 100% A-level pass rate for an impressive fifth successive year.
Almost one third of all examination entries at the school were awarded the highest A*/A grades.
A quarter of all Year 13 pupils also achieved a clean sweep of prestigious high grades (A*-B), securing places to read degree courses such as Medicine, Law, Biochemistry and Politics and International Relations, to name just a few.
Kirsty Mackenzie, Head at Teesside High School, said: “We are incredibly proud of our Year 13 students today. They join what is becoming a long line of THS Sixth Form year groups who have achieved an uncompromising 100% A-level pass rate.
“This outstanding record of success is testament to a fantastic partnership between teachers and pupils, small class sizes, personalised intervention and a unique, supportive environment which prepares students perfectly for the challenges of university or the world of work.
“We have known for a while now that adjustments would be made to this set of examination results to reduce grade inflation, but it is heartening to see our students securing their ambitious target grades and preferred next steps in spite of these changes.
“As a small school, we know our students extremely well, and this makes days like these all the more rewarding. Some of our pupils leave Teesside High today after 15 years studying at the school. We wish them all the very best of luck for what is an undoubtedly bright future ahead.”
