Charlie Watson

Hello to you, and welcome! What can I tell you in a few words?

I was born and educated in Hull before moving to Newcastle for my degree and teacher training. My working life since then has centred on the North East. I am married to Margaret and we have two sons and two grandchildren. We currently live in north Lincolnshire close to the wonderful Humber Bridge. I am a season ticket holder for Hull City (yes, there are still some left!)

I am passionate about education. Over fifty years of my professional career has been spent in teaching, with half of that time as a Head and Consultant. Currently I am the longest serving Governor at THS and was privileged to act as interim Head here for a term in 2014.

I am a member of several Governor committees including Education, Personnel, Finance and Facilities as well as acting as SEN link Governor at present. I consider my listening skills to be amongst my strengths. I have a basic certificate in Life/Personal Coaching.

I believe THS is a wonderful school where a great team of teachers and support staff are committed to giving children the very best educational experience. THS is a school where every individual is supported, nurtured, developed and encouraged. From earliest years through to Sixth Form we seek to develop well-rounded, secure, mature, responsible, young people who are equipped to become active, intelligent learners and citizens of the future. In short, I like to think that here at THS we grow children and families!
