Nicola Stephens

Miss Stephens studied Physical Education and Biology, graduating with BA (Hons) from the University of Leeds. She spent a year working as a Resident Graduate at Bootham School in York where she coached Sport and supported with boarding duties before going on to complete her Post Graduate Certificate in Education at Carnegie College, Leeds Metropolitan University, with specialism in secondary PE.

Following this, Miss Stephens spent five years teaching PE in a small secondary school between Leeds and Huddersfield.  She moved back to her home region to take the post of Head of Girls PE at a school in Stockton-on-Tees and, after three years, moved to Teesside High School to take on the challenge of Director of Sport in 2004.  Her progression to Deputy Head followed seven years later.

A keen sportswoman, Miss Stephens was a competitive games player until she was 35 years old and still enjoys a range of physical activities including hill walking, skiing, cycling and going to the gym. She is actively involved in the school’s Duke of Edinburgh Programme and some of her favourite trips at school have included seeing mountain gorillas in Uganda, trekking in Thailand and sightseeing in New York.
