Air Ambulance Careers Lunch – Thursday 2 May
Wednesday 24 April 2024 | By System AdminWe are delighted to be hosting a special Careers Lunch on Thursday 2 May with guest speakers from the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) brings pioneering pre-hospital care to the scene of any incident, rescuing hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year. The organisation is not NHS-funded, instead relying on private donations and community fundraising to operate. By working closely with the NHS and fellow emergency services, GNAAS has become an important part of the region’s major incident response.
Nat Lonsdale, a former THS pupil, is a doctor with the GNAAS team as well as an emergency medicine doctor at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. Nat will be joined by Sophie Snowdon, part of the charity’s fundraising team. They will be sharing information about their careers, what their day-to-day jobs entail and how they got to their current role.
This lunch is a must-do opportunity for anyone who is interested in a career in medicine, the emergency services, aviation, charity fundraising and public service. Find out about the helicopter fleet, the doctors in the air and the support staff on the ground, plus the many exciting challenges the team take on in order to raise funds to keep this vital service saving lives in our area.
Students have been sent a Google Form to confirm their attendance and to select their lunch options. I would appreciate it if you could discuss this opportunity with your son/daughter in the Senior School and encourage them to complete the form as soon as possible, as places are limited.
